Abbey, hunting lodge, boat lift, wildlife park: the main destinations around the Werbellinsee are between ten and forty minutes from the hotel.
Chorin Abbey
The brick Gothic abbey ruin from the 13th century is the best-known building in the region. In summer it hosts the concerts of the Chorin Music Summer. About 25 minutes by car.
Hubertusstock hunting lodge
The former hunting lodge on the western shore of the Werbellinsee is today part of the Ringhotel Schorfheide. Reachable on foot via the circular trail or by bike.
Niederfinow boat lift
The old lift from 1934 and its new neighbour raise ships by 36 metres. A trip for families, about 35 minutes from the hotel.
Schorfheide Wildlife Park
Wolves, bison, Przewalski’s horses and otters in the wildlife park near Groß Schönebeck, about 20 minutes away.
Askanierturm
The lookout tower at the southern end of the lake with a view along the whole length of the Werbellinsee. On foot from the hotel along the shore path.

How far is the Fontane Hotel from Berlin?
About 60 minutes by car from central Berlin via the A11, 45 minutes from the northern edge of the city, 75 minutes from BER airport. By train it takes 30 to 40 minutes to Eberswalde, then 20 minutes by taxi or bus.
Are dogs allowed?
Unfortunately not. Pets are not allowed at the hotel, at Theodors Restaurant, in the apartments or at the Silberwolf.
